Actually, the windows and clock are there, we just aren't seeing the same orientation in these shots.

Well the windows are, mostly, but the clock isn't (but is easily added). The way this model is textured is odd and it will require a complete overhaul to bring it up to scratch (but a bit of a play helped, particularly with the too blue roof).

On a very positive note I came across some copyright free models that are both brilliant AND, unlike 99% of the free models available on the net, they are all still in all their individual parts. This allows for complete freedom with the models (in regards to textures and positioning), and eliminates so many potential issues. There are a range of castles, a cathedral, a small range of medieval town buildings, the various components of a medieval market - all HQ and fully manipulatable!!! (not to mention legit)wink.gif I'm not sure of the era appropriateness of some of the castles and of the cathedral, but that's where our resident experts come in.
Here's a small sample, I will post the whole collection later (btw some of these are missing textures, but as they are in individual pieces, applying the textures will be straightforward).

Excellent! Very good job in finding these.

The Props are perfect and will make the Lotting much easier.

On first view the castle seems to be a perfect fit as far as timing goes. Could be mediterranean influenced.

The building seems to fit nicely aswell, just depends on the groundfloor. If it has a modern shopfront it's out of bounds, but with a type of open stall down there it would be very good as urban COM or even IND.

The castle could be medieval. I know that the "Gravensteen" in Ghent dates back to the 11th and 12th century (with modifications later). But they look the same

Yes the props will make lotting much easier, and there are quite a few more. Clearly there will be at least one SM prop pack - which I will post to the SMEX model by model.

These models are stunning - it really is a huge find.

I have been putting together the beginnings of the first SM prop pack, here's what's done thus far (keeping in mind that there is some substantial rescaling of models to be done):

Also there are a few things I don't recognise in the market pack that I thought someone might know...:

All of these props are in HD, which I think will generally be a popular choice. However something I'm not so sure about is using bat4max's day mode which gives models more realistic lighting as well as a four sided shadow effect. The downside of this is it restricts the flexibility of the lots as far as placement is concerned. You can't just rotate the same model for multiple varied placings (which is a major downside). I expect certain objects will suffer from this more than others so I would appreciate knowing, as people are using these to lot with, what restrictions they are feeling.
These will soon be on the SMEX for SM lotting only (i.e feel free to download and use but nothing can be released until SM itself is).
I am going to make a range of market stalls (different colours/orientations/makeup), please suggest/upload some patterns for the roof material if you've got something in mind.

About the era's:

nr 8: isn't medieval... it's from the 16th-17th century (maybe even 18th)
Nr3 is late gothic... could be medieval.
All the others are from the correct time

So most of them made the cut, for now. There are a lot of HQ castles available, more than anything else; I wish they could play more of a role in game...

Very nice props you got there. I'm already looking forward to using them.

As for the correct age, I do agree with Alex, but have a few doubts of the realism of 2 and 4.

For the unrecognizable stuff I hazard a few guesses (the size does pose a few problems though):
- an egg
- a single grape or fruit (purple sphere)
- a single fruit or cannon ball (white sphere)
- a shard of ceramic
- for the three on the right, no guesses so far...

2 and 4 seem to be some fantasy-castles. Could be fun to use (If we only had a dragon, then we could rescue the princess!) :p

Once again, thanks for the info. There's so much to try and get one's head around, it helps enormously to know when I'm heading in the wrong direction.

Here's the first completed building from that latest medieval set I came across (and is so generously up for free via dreamssoftgames).

Fortunately these models are also in separate pieces so I can make a red brick version. What's the significance of the gargoyle (image/sculpture?) above the door?
What would this (could this) building be classified as?

Also what size lot do you think this should be on? and should it be made to be W2W?

@Alex: hmm, we do have a dragon... (btw, well done 3:1 against Lisbon)

@thingfishs: could we get a slightly bigger image of the Gargoyle (or could it be a mask?)? Two things I just noticed: there are no windows and just that single front door??? The main beams seem to be a bit too accentuated, would it be possible to 'pull out' the filling a bit?
