As we are starting with a clean slate, we need as many appropriate models as we can.
The problem with stuff off the STEX is adding to the dependency list.
Before I start BATting too seriously, I want to get a better picture of what most needs doing.
Another good source of HQ models is the net. There are many copyright free models available, and some medieval ones. Sometimes these need to be textured, sometimes re-textured, and sometimes just scaled and rendered.
It's become apparent that most of the available models & bats are of the higher wealth variety, so I've been looking mostly for low wealth (also because that's the way I am proceeding through things... LW - HW).
Here's a couple of examples. What I would appreciate is whether you think I have categorised these appropriately...?
Also, if anyone happens across some good medieval models on the net, post the links
Looking at these again it's apparent, especially with the one on the right, that they need vertical stretching treatment.

OK, so here are some (mostly) Max preview renders of some of the models I have transferred. I want you to be reasonably hyper critical, if you know what I mean.
Certainly anything that's more fantasy than medieval must be exterminated.
Also I want any thoughts on improving the textures, and anything else. These are the models mostly as is. Where there were no textures (like in the case of the tavern), there are still none. I don't have enough of a feel yet to be able to automatically know what should be made out of what. Also any thoughts on their use as game objects would be good too.

10. windmill

Generally very nice models. 3: doesn't convince me too much, neither in textures nor in construction 4: very good 5: very good, apart from the multiple chimney and maybe the windowpanes. Maybe using simple shutters instead.. 6: from this distance fairly nice 7: nice 8: good, maybe a slight change in texture for the pots 9: looks good, not sure about storical accuracy 10: very nice, just add the sails (even rolled up) 11: don't think it's got anything to do with the period (might even 19th) (removed) 12: nice model, again unsure about the multiple chimney. roof texture or thatched or shindles. wall texture dirty white (as a test). foundation maybe slightly larger rocks.
thanks for that. What is modifiable varies from model to model. I will keep posting these as I process them,as well as the updated ones. I look forward to seeing the tavern finished off.
With different degrees of reworking the following could be usefull: Clermont, Darmstadt, Fire, Gutenbach, Hotel, Liechtenstein, Muslim, Piggery, San Jeronimo, Stuttgar, Tranfiguration. As for the Houses, almost any single floor longhouse could be adapted. The Town Houses are lovely, unfortunately a bit too late.
great, thanks for that. Couchpotato sent me that link, asking to let me know which ones I want... I haven't even been looking at proper collections like that one, but she suggested it so who am I to question.
The good thing with "proper" models like these, is that they are more or less fully modifiable. I will send her your recommendations.
