Well I'm back again. These last couple of months have been filled with pubs, music, alcohol and girls. However on friday I was arrested for disorderly conduct (being too drunk and cheeky to a policewoman), and so for now I am keeping a low profile as far as pubs and drinking is concerned. Also I have been putting a new band together (with an expatriate from your country Sim, a brilliant drummer named Sandro, who lives here now). But there's always time, it's just a matter of motivation; and after 9 months of solid SC4 I was burnt out. It's certainly great to see your first lot there Sim, hopefully now, almost a month later, you've made some more. For your first lot it looks very nice, not too much or too little detail, and arranged appropriately; would love to see more.

Hi Sim,

I've kept an occasional eye on the site (but missed those personal messages, yes I am still alive wink.gif), but it's all been more been a source of guilt than anything. I just lost all motivation for the game, I wanted (and expected) it to return, but it didn't.
But, well, EVENTUALLY it started to. This past week I've started making my first BAT in ages, and intend to actually play the game again shortly. (have a look at my SC4 page to see it)

I will forward you the things I have made, and yes, I think opening the site up for discussion and contributions is the way to go; there's nothing like some interest and enthusiasm (and hopefully contributions) to get the juices flowing again.

How are things in your world? I have become good friends with an Italian, Sandro. He is a drummer from Roma who now lives in Adelaide (but he misses home). Have you been playing much SC4? How about lotting?

Anyway, my apologies yet again, and I hope I can start being a bit more reliable for you. cry.gif

Glad to see that this Project is still going ahead.

The last few months have been quite busy, changing work and getting a SC4 Multiplayer Site (http://www.simcitymultiplayer.com/forum.php) back on track, but it looks like I'm back to having some time for this too :).

BTW, played around a bit with your first bunch of LOTs. They look better than you had announced and work well.

hmm No, just got trapped in a linguistic lazyness impreciseness.

The site belongs to Flo and it's been around, though under a different name, for years. I only stumbled upon it by chance, liked it and, after taking part in the final sufferings of the old one, decided to give a hand or two in the (re-)launch of the new one.

For a dot com, you just have to register your domain, paying a small yearly fee to keep it.

The hosting, with server, mail and all the maintenance work are free for the first year and cost 195 Euro/year after that, at least with my provider, but on other services you may get it for even less. Should you be interested, one good and reliable provider is this: www.1and1.com

A site itself can be build with Joomla (or anything else) by whoever or ordered tailor-made for something like 2.000 - 3.000 Euro (or much less or much more, depending on your needs).

I'm with www.uwhost.net
It's a dutch provider with starting prices at €10/year for the server (25Mbytes) and €15 for a domain-name.
They support PHP, POP3-mail, MySQL, etc... and they have a helpdesk. Very good prices for the service they offer. They even make backups.

Only problem maybe: they're only in dutch ;)

A forum can be made with http://www.phpbb.com/ It's open source forum software. We use it for our scubadiving-club.

I must admit it's tempting to make it simmedieval.com 1. it's available 2. simsmedieval.com goes to the website of the forthcoming sims medieval game (have you guys heard about this?)
I can see there being good opportunity to "borrow" some traffic.

If it can be done cheaply I am more than prepared to foot the bill.

oh and Sim, that makes more sense (considering how established the site looks). I'll have a better look at it at some point.

I am a bit confused with the different figures. I had a look at that site you linked to and it seemed it would cost $7.99 a year...?

Yes, using them it costs something like that.

I personally (for the Company I'm working for that is) just had our Website rebuild (under construction right now) and moved to a smaller local hoster. That's explains why the figures differ.

***Breaking News***

Since we're not a private site anymore and to avoid someone just reading this and borrowing the idea, I moved ahead and registered the domain. www.SimMedieval.com is ours as of today. Whenever you want to move the site or even design a new one, just let me know and we can arrange whatever necessary.
