Didn't manage to dl the images, so here just the links:

  • Rendsburg - Northern Germany, visible to the north the ex-wall and to the south the market square.

  • Rothenburg ob der Tauber - Southern Germany, the old town with it's walls still completely intact.

    And one more:

  • The Monastery of Ovanengo (Northern Italy)
The Monastery doesn't exist anymore (today it's a village), but the structure remained the same.

thanks a lot for these Sim. So are all those buildings part of the old monastery?

I'm a bit frustrated and overwhelmed by the street situation (the need for curved and finer angled streets), but it's not a deal breaker if it can't be done, just really, really annoying. There are people that could probably help but for now I am reluctant to get too many people involved. Therefore I am putting streets aside for now and ploughing ahead with the collection of royalty free models off the web I have; there are some beauties.

I am gaining an appreciation for some of the architectural styles used during the time. Particularly some of the churches of the period, which comes as no surprise of course, are really beautiful, in a refined, and not overly showy way.

I know Bach came from after the renaissance, but I wonder if his church(es), were period appropriate...

Yes, the whole block you see in the middle was the monastery. Monasteries were one of the main focal points and among the largest land owners of the day. I'm heading down to Uni later today, might find a couple of other blueprints with descriptions.

As for the streets, one person that surely would be available for consultation is Andreas Roth from the SFBT. (Other folks that I'm actually missing here are our CTG, Kwakelaar and Manchou.)
I'm not quite sure if other types of curves or fractionals would be usefull (other than optical), since we are limited to the grid anyway as far as buildings are concerned. One thing that I would love to see and that would save a bunch of time in-game are draggable canals and, in particular, irrigation canals.

Architectural styles I'm particulary fond of are 'hanseatic' (timberframe and red brick), gothic, northern italian and norman.

Well CTG has been invited, but hasn't been seen for a while.(I look forward to his returm, hopefully with some of those houses he said he was going to do. Kwakelaar was invited earlier on but was reluctant to be involved (but did help out with a mod that he's been using). I have a village pack of Manchou's in the "maybe" dependency pile, and I will certainly invite him later on. My wariness too get too many involved is very deliberate (too many cooks can so easily spoil a broth). However, when the overall form of the project starts to come together it will be a different story. Then I will be actively promoting the project at various places, including all the major european sites, in an effort to gain batters and lotters etc. I expect things at that point to snowball, but I believe in getting a good foundation, and clear vision, together first. Like I've said, I want to do this right. For now I'm only interested in accepting members who are keen on the project, not just having a look. I will however, be posting some of these problems at ST & SC4D, And I will ask degren about dirt FAR, I can't be the first person who's wanted it.

You're absolutely right. Before we involve too many people the basics have to done.
There should be a new SAM edition on the way, maybe we could ask to be accomodated?

likewise with some of these, I could do with bigger versions. As convenient as the upload images thing in the forums is, it does shrink things considerably. The 1st one, the 6th one down, and the last one particularly.

    Awesome images though, thanks.

Changing the quality might prove a bit difficult, the originals are mostly handdrawn designs from who knows when (even though they are printed in a book). Right now I'm uploading them to my Host, at least that way they should get bigger.
